CLIMATE: The climate of the Central African Republic is generally tropical. The northern areas are subject to Harmattan winds, which are hot, dry, and carry dust. The northern regions have been subject to desertification, and the northeast is desert. Temperatures in Bangui have an average minimum and maximum range from 21° C to 34° C. In the south, abundant rainfall of about 178 cm falls annually, decreasing to about 86 cm in the extreme northeast. Floods are common.
